Buffet Food
We arrived half an hour late, as per usual, upholding IST (Indian Standard Time). Upon entering through the doors was a strategically places sign that read,
FATHER'S DAY BUFFET
$24.99
I pointed this out to my parents, thinking they might be interested, but I was wrong. They were more than interested.
"Maybe we should look at the menu first and see if it's worth it to get the buffet," said Didi.
And look we did, but not at the menu. My parents and I got up to look at the buffet, instead. They decided to take the plunge almost immediately, and the depths to which they plunged are practically indescribable. I was still sort of torn between buffet and menu, but the pakora urge was brimming and the paneer was seductive, so I eventually went over to the dark side. The whole time I was sitting there thinking, “but why did we do this.”
It was frantic. It was chaotic. I was trying to eat and my mom started yelling at me to go get food before the buffet closes, which being the responsible brown folk we are, we arrived to ten minutes before closing.
